The team

MintMech is a curated, multi-skilled team of engineers, led by a senior group with senior offshore careers behind them. The founders and several of our senior engineers came up through major offshore drilling and foundation-installation specialists, with adjacent experience in large-diameter foundation drilling – one of a handful of fields globally where that depth exists. Several of our former employers are now our clients.

That lineage matters because it’s the difference between engineering that looks right on a drawing and engineering that works in conditions. Our senior people have been on the rigs, vessels and sites the equipment has to perform on. When we make a call, it’s evidenced from analysis and operational experience, not opinion.

How we’re structured

The business runs on a settled senior management team – the two co-founders alongside the Operations, Engineering, Production and Office managers and the commercial lead. Engineering works as a team-based structure, with technical authority distributed across team leads rather than concentrated in a couple of people, so a project’s engineering ownership doesn’t depend on any one individual being in the room.

Built from within

Promotion from within is our primary leadership path. Engineers progress from drafter through to senior engineer and team lead, supported by a structured degree-apprenticeship pipeline run with Cornwall College. We invest in people for the long term – which is how specialist engineering knowledge stays in the business, and in the region.

Our story so far

MintMech grew from a small Cornish workshop into a specialist offshore-equipment business by taking on work others found too awkward, and staying with it until it worked.

• 2018 · Founded – started with a focus on practical offshore and heavy-industry engineering, and a different way of working.
• 2019 · First dedicated workshop – a move to a dedicated engineering and light-assembly space at Jubilee Wharf, Penryn.
• 2020 · First major project wins – early geotechnical and marine-construction scopes set the direction into complex offshore equipment.
• 2021 · First scale-up – team expansion enables more complex marine-handling and drilling mechanisms.
• 2022 · More space, more engineers – additional workshop and office space increases engineering headcount.
• 2023 · Capability deepens – growth across mechanical, structural, offshore-operations and hydraulic design supports larger, more technical scopes.
• 2024 · Marine geotechnical breakthrough – development of Active Heave Assist (AHA) and Automated Weight-on-Bit (AWOB) positions MintMech in heave-compensated marine drilling.
• 2025 · Our Penryn facility – development of our facility in Penryn into a full integration and system-test base.
• 2026 · Fully operational – end-to-end integration, testing and rapid delivery of specialist offshore equipment from Cornwall.
