MintMech Founder, Director and Engineer

Laurie is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer who has spent the early part of his career offshore installing Round 2 offshore wind farm projects. Laurie offers extensive experience in planning and managing large diameter drilling, turbine erection, repair, and decommissioning projects. Laurie brings extensive first-hand knowledge in the design, manufacturing delivery, commissioning and operation of offshore drilling and construction specific equipment working from both floating vessels and jack up barges. ​

MintMech Founder, Director and Engineer

Jack is a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer specialising in control system design, specifically applying to geotechnical and large diameter drilling systems and heave compensation systems. Jack has spent extensive time designing, commissioning, and installing offshore drilling systems and brings time-served experience to the practicalities of the operations in the offshore environment and Japan drilling some of the deepest overwater holes on the planet. Jack is currently leading a team of technical consultants advising EDF on the drilling and installation of the Courseulles-Sur-Mer Offshore Wind Farm. ​

Senior Design Engineer

A Chartered Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in the design of heavy plant, Dan started his career within the agricultural OEM sector before moving to offshore construction and geotechnical technologies. As Senior Design Engineer, he brings his multi-disciplinary expertise to the MintMech table, including mechanical and structural design, production engineering, manufacturing process management, budgetary compilation, client liaison and more. With comprehensive knowledge of solving complex engineering requirements, Dan is an invaluable font of knowledge and plays an integral role in team mentoring.

Production Engineer

Leigh is a highly skilled Production Engineer with a diverse range of expertise in the field. With an extensive background in offshore drilling and engineering equipment, her professional skills include precision machining specialization, proficiency in welding, fabrication, and invaluable hands-on practical experience.​ Complementing her practical skills, Leigh also has more than 25 years’ experience in technical procurement, stock management, sales, delivery, goods receiving, manufacturing, and international shipping. ​Sharing her knowledge and expertise, Leigh is dedicated to promoting diversity in engineering and inspiring the next generation of engineers. ​

Commercial Manager

MintMech’s Project and Commercial Manager, Theo exhibits a range of practical and management skills acquired through his current and previous roles. Prior to joining MintMech, he studied Applied Geology (BSc) at the University of Plymouth, before gaining over 6 years’ experience in the Site Characterisation and Investigation Industry. Overseeing operations, Theo has experience in creation and continued ownership of project documentation, liaising with clients and project teams, reporting operational and commercial development, cost control and problem-solving, all within the fast-paced and challenging marine environment.

Design Engineer

Matt graduated with a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Exeter University in 2020 and has already worked alongside some of the world’s leading engineers. Resourceful and driven, Matt took a key role in leading the design of a new initiative subsea drill with an integrated self-locking mechanism to allow fast deployment on uneven ground. His outstanding contribution was widely recognised and he has quickly become known as a budding talent in the field. Joining the MintMech team as Graduate Design Engineer in January 2022, Matt became Design Engineer in 2023 and continues to produce first-class engineering solutions across a variety of projects.

Design Engineer

Kinana holds a Master’s in Renewable Energy in Civil Engineering from Université Le Havre and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Damascus University. Passionate about the intersection of engineering innovation and sustainability, Kinana gained a wealth of experience as a postdoctoral research fellow and senior R&D engineer before joining MintMech as a Design Engineer in 2023. An industry leader in marine and offshore engineering, operations safety, and bespoke mechanical designs, she harnesses a solid foundation in engineering and a deep-rooted commitment to renewable energy to push the boundaries of what is possible and deliver cutting-edge bespoke solutions.

Design Engineer

An experienced design engineer, Jake graduated from University of Exeter with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Working in the near and offshore marine construction industry, he was intrinsically involved in a wide array of projects from design through to commission, including the development of significant energy infrastructure projects. Later part of a team who designed and manufactured industry leading leisure vehicles before joining MintMech in autumn 2023, Jake brings a wealth of experience in design engineering and operating CNC manufacturing equipment. Dedicated and driven, Jake plays an integral part in delivering our turnkey solutions.

Office Manager

A highly skilled coordinator and administrator, Nicole joined MintMech in 2024 as Office Manager and plays a key role within the team. With rich experience in busy commercial environments, she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and is intrinsic to the smooth running and execution of projects. From planning and delivery to managing communication both within the team and with external contacts and more, her keen eye for detail and dynamic approach provide vital support for our specialist engineering services.

Marketing Coordinator 

A marketing specialist, Lizzie graduated from Lancaster University with joint honours in History and French before pursuing her interest in copywriting and digital marketing. Having worked across a broad range of industries and sectors through her freelance career, she joined our team in spring 2023, bringing her multi-disciplinary skills to provide strategic marketing support across all channels. Our MintMech brand guardian and chief wordsmith, Lizzie plays a pivotal role in everything from leading social media and PR campaigns to liaising with project partners to showcasing our specialist engineering services and solutions.

Graduate Design Engineer Intern

Coming aboard as part of MintMech’s graduate internship program, Ben joined our team over the summer of 2023 to gain insight and experience working in a dynamic engineering environment. A passionate and ambitious engineer, Ben is currently completing a masters in Renewable Engineering at the University of Exeter and hopes to pursue a career in the renewable energy sector. With a thirst for knowledge, he brings energy and dedication to his role and demonstrates a natural aptitude and flare for tackling complex engineering requirements that has seen him settle into the MintMech team with ease.

Offshore Hydraulic and Mechanical Technician

Karl (Kippy) Hocking is a site specialist providing pivotal support for MintMech. An expert in his field, he started his mechanical training at the age of 14 and since then has been extensively involved in the marine and industrial engineering industries. Now based in Australia, he specialises in the maintenance of offshore infrastructure and supports MintMech’s broad array of projects by lending his expertise to service, maintain and continually improve drill equipment, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, mechanical operations, and more.
