Internal lifting tooling for tubular handling

An internal lifting tool is placed inside a tubular pile, then grips the pile’s inner wall to lift, upend and handle it. As the tool takes the load, its gripping elements expand against the bore so the grip increases with the load, a fail-safe principle that holds the pile securely throughout the lift and cannot release under load. It’s faster and safer than rigging shackles, and the engage/release can be operated remotely. We design and supply ILTs as complete tools, built to be sold and hired, matched to your pile diameters, wall thicknesses and crane capacity.

What it does

  • Fail-safe internal grip – gripping elements expand against the pile bore; load increases grip, so the tool cannot release while loaded.
  • Lift, upend & handle – vertical lifting and upending of tubular piles, and controlled handling, across a wide diameter range.
  • Remote engage / release – hydraulically actuated with remote (or ROV) operation, keeping people away from the lift.
  • Self-contained – supplied with the hydraulic power and control to suit, with accumulator-backed operation where hoses aren’t wanted.

Built on our gripping technology

The ILT shares the controlled-grip engineering behind our jacking grippers and conductor adapters. We have direct experience of pile-handling tools in offshore wind, marine construction and decommissioning and we build them as products for supply or rental, sized and certified to your project.
