We manufacture and supply cable and hose tensioner and reeler systems built on our own active constant-tension technology. Reeling electrical cable, umbilical or hose on and off a drum sounds simple, but holding steady tension across the whole operation, through changing drum diameter, payout rate and vessel motion, is what protects the product and makes the spread reliable. Our systems apply closed-loop tension control to the reeler so the cable or hose sees a constant, controllable tension whether you’re paying out, holding or hauling in.

What problem it solves

Cable and hose are expensive and easily damaged by snatch, slack or over-tension and inconsistent tension makes for an unreliable reeling operation. A reeler that actively holds a tension setpoint protects the product, keeps the spool tidy and repeatable and removes the over- and under-tension events that cause damage and downtime. It’s the same control discipline behind our constant-tension winches, applied to reeling duties.

How we deliver it

  • Active constant-tension control – closed-loop control holds the cable or hose to a continuously adjustable tension setpoint across the full operation, compensating for drum-diameter change and vessel motion.
  • Cable or hose reeling – configured for electrical cable, umbilical or hose, with the drum, level-wind and drive sized to the product and duty.
  • Standard product, configured to duty – a repeatable system built on proven control technology, configured to your cable/hose size, tension range and deck interface.
  • Integrated power & control – supplied with the hydraulic power, controls and safety functions to suit and able to share the wider MintMech handling and HPU range.
  • Pipe & hose guiding and management – chutes, sheaves, rollers and guide framing to control the path of cable, umbilical or hose over the side and across the deck – keeping the product clear of edges and snag points and feeding it cleanly to the reeler or tensioner.

Because it shares our constant-tension control platform, it integrates naturally with our winch, LARS and handling systems, one controllable tension philosophy across the deck spread.
