Pile gates
Restraining and guiding piles during installation, including multilevel access and gripper arrangements.

A pile gate holds a pile in position and to the correct line while it is pitched, gripped and driven or drilled in. Get it right and piling is safe, accurate and repeatable; get it wrong and it costs tolerance, time and exposure for the crew. We design pile gates to the pile, the structure and the installation method, from straightforward restraint to multilevel-access gates with integrated gripper arrangements that hold the pile at several heights as it advances.
What problem it solves
Piles are long, heavy and unforgiving of misalignment and the people working around them are exposed during pitching and gripping. A well-engineered gate controls position and verticality (or rake), reduces the manual intervention needed at height and gives a repeatable, inspectable interface between the pile and the structure, so tolerance is designed in, not chased on site.
Typical configuration & boundaries
- Restraint & guidance – engineered to the pile diameter, weight and the loads of the installation method.
- Gripper arrangements – to hold and centre the pile, with multilevel access options where the pile must be controlled at several heights.
- Rake or vertical – configured for vertical or raked piling as the foundation requires.
- Class & assurance – certification to DNV, Lloyd’s Register, Bureau Veritas and ABS where the project requires it, with documentation suitable for project assurance.
Configured per project, pile size, structure interface and installation method define the design.
