Senior Design Engineer

The Role

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer to join our creative, dynamic team. The successful applicant will be a proactive and practical Mechanical Engineer with strong innovation and analytical skills to provide efficient and reliable solutions to complex engineering problems. Working as a lead Design Engineer within an engineering team, you will liaise with external project stakeholders and internal resources to deliver projects to schedule and budget.

This exciting opportunity requires the successful candidate to undertake a range of design and development, procurement management and site survey / commissioning functions both nationally and internationally.  You will be highly self-motivated with a positive attitude to maintain the reactive and can-do attitude of MintMech Ltd.  As a senior member of the engineering team, you will be fundamental in mentoring the development of other staff members to build a highly skilled engineering and project management team.

The day-to-day

You will be working within our focused team of mechanical engineers and supporting roles at our Penryn office.  We are friendly group of colleagues who strive to deliver great solutions to client requirements.

Externally you will work with client representatives, third party engineering consultants, manufacturing partners and suppliers.

  • Holding virtual/face to face meetings with clients
  • Developing project specifications from client documentation
  • Developing and maintaining project schedule and budget
  • Producing conceptual designs with validating calculations
  • Producing detailed designs from successful concepts
  • Producing design risk assessments and FMECA documentation
  • Commissioning plant and equipment on site
  • Managing and mentoring junior engineers
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture

The candidate

Essential
  • Degree level qualified in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years post-graduation experience within a relevant engineering industry
  • Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication and fabrication practice
  • Competent with 2D and 3D CAD plus FEA analysis software
  • Competent lead engineer
  • Competent project manager
Desirable
  • Competent in SolidWorks 3D, Mathcad and Staad Software
  • Knowledge of structural steel design
  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Practical workshop experience

Graduate Design Engineer

The Role

MintMech Ltd are a Marine and Heavy Engineering Design and Project Management Consultancy operating both nationally and internally from our Penryn headquarters. Due to considerable year on year growth, we are seeking to recruit a Graduate Design Engineer to support our diverse portfolio of projects. The successful applicant will be a proactive and practical Engineering Design graduate with a good knowledge of 3D modelling design and manufacturing processes. Working within our design engineering and product delivery team, you will produce 3D models, 2D engineering drawings and associated production information to make our innovations a reality.

  • Working with experienced engineers to develop concepts
  • Follow and contribute to internal design and delivery standards
  • Develop conceptual designs into 3D models and present final solutions
  • Produce 2D drawings, BOMs and manufacturing documentation
  • Assist the production engineering in team in product procurement
  • Appreciating and adhering to project schedule and budget
  • Producing design risk assessments and FMECA documentation
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture

  • Working Pattern Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

The candidate

Essential
  • Degree level qualified in an engineering design discipline
  • Knowledge of 2D software such as Autocad or Draftsight
  • Knowledge of 3D modelling software such as Solidworks, Solid Edge of Inventor
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques
Desirable
  • Competent in DraftSight 2D and Solidworks 3D software
  • Knowledge of heavy fabrication manufacturing techniques and processes
  • Practical workshop experience
