Mechanical & structural engineering

load paths, structures and mechanisms, designed to be built to last.

Mechanical and structural engineering is the spine of everything we deliver. We design the primary structure, frames, skids, lifting and handling structures, deck interfaces and mechanisms for offshore, marine and heavy-industrial equipment –Fabrication-aware detailing so the design can easily be built, transported, assembled and maintained.

Scope of work

  • Primary and secondary structural design – main frameworks, lifting points, load paths and interfaces.
  • Mechanism and motion design – the moving parts, where stiffness, alignment and clearance govern behaviour.
  • Materials selection and weld detailing suitable for controlled fabrication and inspection.
  • Structural analysis – static and the dynamic load cases that motion-engineered systems demand, including DNV-aligned load-case work for offshore equipment.

Typical applications

Launch and recovery structures, A-frames and deployment systems; pile gates, seafastening and deck spreads; crane bases and containerised handling systems; jack-up and jacking structures; mining headgear, sheaves and conveyance structures; bespoke lifting and handling tooling.

Fabrication, managed

We deliver fabricated, machined and assembled equipment, turnkey. We design it, then manage fabrication through a trusted supplier network: a strong local Cornish supply chain for quality and speed, and UK and international shipyards and fabrication yards for large, heavy or complex work. We know which fabricator suits which job, and we arrange and control NDT, inspection, machining, painting, surface finishes and coatings. Deep fabrication knowledge sits behind the design, so what we draw can be built and where a scope needs third-party checking or class involvement, the documentation is prepared to support it.
