Offshore wind & renewables

A delivery-discipline partner across the lifecycle, fixed and floating wind and the wider marine-renewables sector.

Offshore wind is one of our largest sectors when assessed across the whole project lifecycle rather than as one slice of it. We engage at developer, Tier-1 EPCI and installation-contractor level on specialist scopes where engineering judgement and single-party accountability matter. In a market of deferred decisions, constrained installation fleets and risk-averse supply chains, our value is front-loaded certainty: getting the engineering and the interfaces right before costs are committed.

Foundations & installation

Our large-diameter-drilling experience is a particular strength. We have a documented method, engineered since 2019, for converting a geotechnical drilling rig into a pile-installation system using cased open hole and other large-diameter pile-installation techniques, independently validated in 2023 under an Offshore Wind Growth Partnership framework. We also design template and levelling systems for pinned jacket foundations.

Handling, lifting & anchoring

Blade-lifting tools and other handling systems; deployment and launch-and-recovery equipment; and anchoring engineering for floating foundations, where we work anchor-agnostically, engineering the installation method and tooling around the chosen anchor rather than promoting one type.

Wave, tidal & marine renewables

This is not new ground for us: members of our team delivered the foundations for the Oyster 1 and 2 wave energy devices at EMEC in Orkney in the early 2010s, before MintMech was founded.

Beyond wind, the same engineering serves the wider marine-renewables sector, wave and tidal-stream developers and the technology innovators bringing novel devices to sea. These programmes need exactly what we do: rugged handling, deployment and launch-and-recovery systems, anchoring and mooring-installation engineering and structures that survive a hostile environment, taken from concept to working, commissioned hardware. We engage early, while a device or array is still defining how it will deploy and grow with it.

Why it fits the market now

The constraints in offshore wind today, deferred final investment decisions, capacity-constrained installation fleets, supply-chain retrenchment, are exactly the conditions where an integration-and-delivery-discipline-led partner reduces risk. We bring oil-and-gas-grade engineering on an offshore-wind budget: fit-for-purpose equipment, repeatable and reliable, maintainable by the people already on site.
