Subsea
Subsea clamping systems
Electro-hydraulic drill-pipe and structural clamps for subsea make-up and load transfer, proven in deep water, exposed to a moving string, bit and cuttings.

Subsea drill-pipe clamps are a staple of the geotechnical and marine-drilling industry, and a long-standing MintMech line. Mounted on a seabed frame, they grip and react the drill string in deep-sea conditions while exposed to a moving string, drill bit and cuttings, so they have to be robust, maintainable and dependable. We design and build them as part of the wider seabed-frame and control system, not as a loose part.
What we design
- Electro-hydraulic clamp bodies – powered clamps for the drill string, engineered for the deep-water duty and the abrasive, moving environment.
- Range of string diameters – clamp arrangements to suit the drill-string or pile diameter in use.
- Replaceable clamp dies – readily available, replicable wear dies, designed to be fitter-friendly and quick to maintain.
- Emergency clamp / release – defined emergency functions for safe make-up and release.
- Structural clamps and connectors – clamps engineered for subsea load transfer between structures, beyond the drill string.
Clamps are the standard equipment on our seabed frames, onto which optional shear capability can be added. Designed to recognised offshore drilling and structural standards.
