Shaft sinking
Sinking cased shafts by large-diameter drilling, for mining access and civil works.

Sinking a shaft by large-diameter drilling, rather than conventional drill-and-blast, gives a clean, cased, accurately-positioned shaft with the people kept out of the hole during excavation. We apply our large-diameter drilling machine to sink cased shafts for mining access and civil works, drilling the shaft and installing casing to hold the ground as we advance. It’s the same drilling platform behind our pile-top and surgical-mining work, configured for vertical shaft construction.
What we bring
- Large-diameter drilling to depth – drilling and casing a shaft accurately, with spoil removal engineered for the diameter and depth.
- Ground-matched cutting – the cutting structure matched to the geology, soft sediments through hard rock.
- Mining heritage – built on our regional mining work (headgear, conveyance, handling) and
