Subsea

Engineering that works on the seabed, drilling, piling, handling and tooling designed for the subsea environment and referenced to the bottom, not the moving vessel.

Specialist marine technology equipment

A great deal of our work ends up on the seabed: drilling and sampling, installing and grouting piles, clamping and connecting and deploying and recovering tooling in deep water. Subsea work changes the engineering, pressure, corrosion, ROV access and referencing the operation to the seabed rather than the vessel and it’s a domain we design for directly. The pages below bring our subsea offerings together.

Subsea solutions

  • Subsea control systems – distributing power and giving proportional, remote control of subsea and over-side functions, with the interlocks and fail-safes the environment demands.
  • Subsea clamping systems – electro-hydraulic drill-pipe and structural clamps for subsea make-up and load transfer, proven in service.
  • Seabed frames (SBF) – frames that land on the bottom to react loads, guide and clamp the string, with optional shear capability.
  • Pile stabbing guides – detachable seabed templates and guides that locate and stab a pile or string into a socket subsea.
  • Subsea piling templates & template levelling systems – setting and holding templates accurately on an uneven seabed.
  • ROV skids – ROV-interfaced and ROV-deployable subsea tooling and intervention skids.
  • Swivels & fluid-transfer equipment – rotary unions and swivel arrangements that pass hydraulic flow, fluid or signal across a rotating or articulating interface, engineered into our deployment, tooling and handling systems so fluid and power transfer cleanly through movement.
  • Subsea geotechnical drilling and subsea pile installation – seabed-referenced drilling and drilled-and-grouted foundations.
