Subsea gripping and clamping system

Gripping a leg, pile or tubular under load, reliably, repeatably and safely, is its own engineering discipline and it runs through much of what we build: jacking systems, internal lifting tools and pile-top adapters. We design and supply the full range of gripping systems and retrofit them to older equipment.

  • Pin-and-hole – positive mechanical engagement through matched holes, with instrumented working and holding pins under controlled sequencing.
  • Air-bladder grippers (DeLong-type) – continuous grip by inflating a bladder against the leg/pile, spreading load along its length rather than through discrete points.
  • Friction grippers (ILT-type) – continuous friction clamping for smooth, holeless surfaces, sharing the principle behind our internal lifting tools.
  • Jacking cans & gripper cans – the structural cans that house and react the gripping and jacking loads into the hull or frame.

Retrofit to older systems

We retrofit modern gripping to older jacking systems and handling equipment, upgrading worn or limited arrangements to current capability, with instrumented control and fail-safe behaviour, without replacing the whole machine.
